Summary from Goodreads

In the “exceptionally hot” (USA Today) Because You Are Mine, Beth Kery redefined what’s possible, what’s desirable, and what’s forbidden between a man and a woman. It’s time to go further...

When enigmatic billionaire Ian Noble sets Lin the task of “taming” his brilliant yet half-savage brother Kam Reardon, she eagerly accepts. She’s more than curious about the solitary genius and everything she’s heard about him. During their electric first meeting, her fascination increases a hundredfold. Kam practically oozes raw sex appeal. Lin is interested...very interested. But does her intense attraction and willingness to go places with him she’s never gone before in the bedroom really have to do with Kam? Or is her carefully hidden desire to blame for wanting a man she knows she can never have?

An elusive outsider, Kam avoids intimacy, yet never shies away from satisfying his erotic appetites. But there’s something different about Lin—a reserve he’s anxious to break. She’s a woman he’s eager to take his time with…and possess completely. A sophisticated beauty like her would never want him anywhere but in bed, but he finds himself unable to resist her.

Immediately Lin’s smooth facade is undone by Kam’s overwhelming masculinity and by his irresistible erotic demands—a lesson in subjugation that leaves Lin confused, reeling, and open to things she never thought possible. Now, as the unpredictable nights between them grow darker, Lin and Kam are certain of only one thing: they’re made for each other.

My first impression of Since I Saw You honestly came from the cover and the promising premise. I have never read Beth Kery before, so I jumped into this book blindly unsure what to expect. I love trying new things and I am not afraid of it, so why not? What I got in return was a very pleasant surprise.

Thought this book is part of a series, I heard it read just fine as a stand-alone. It did, to an extent, but at the same time the back story that I missed kind of hung in the back of my mind the entire time. Which was okay because the current story made up for it!

Wow Beth Kery's writing was simply stunning. I love how it took off from the very first page and no sooner did I find myself invested in the story as I also did with the main characters, Kery really knows how to pull in her readers and make them feel included.

Since I Saw You was a very driven character story, which I enjoy very much. Kam and Lin really made the romance in this novel shine. Their chemistry was explosive from the beginning, and the tension completely sizzling. Thought I wish there was a bit more built up at the beginning, Kery seemed to know how to make everything work just right.

The two couldn't be more different. Kam is kind of reclusive, likes the solidarity, very straightforward and honest as well as very intense. He also cannot really keep a relationship in his life. Lin is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Lin job was basically her entire life, a bit more reserved, possibly in love with Kam's brother Ian and not very open until she meets Kam and slowly starts to let her hair down. The journey alone was a bit different for Lin and the experience that Kam bought with him. The two couldn't be more opposite and yet it's what drew them together and made me fall in love with both of them! Watching the two stumble and learn about themselves was exciting. Neither were perfect and at the beginning Kam kind of found himself walking on eggshells around Lin and has made a few mistakes. But it's hard not to enjoy watching these characters interact and the slight struggle between them. Their interaction was very human and believable. I love watching both of them open up and grow as characters. Not only in bed, but out of bed as both bought down some of their walls unexpectedly to let each other in. I found myself rooting for both of them until the end.

Kery has woven an emotionally driven tale with stunning characters and engrossing plot that left me turning the pages and before I knew it relishing the sweet and perfect ending.

  1. I tried this one, and did set it aside. I liked the writing and the characters, but really needed that backstory. And that's unusual for me. I do hope to eventually read the entire series.
    Thanks for the review!

  4. I have the first instalment in the series but haven't read it yet. A friend of mine told me a few times to start the read because it is quite good, so I'm happy to read such excitement in your review. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts :)

  5. I haven't read this spin-off but I did read the original Because You Are Mine serials, and I liked Ian and Francesca. I'm glad you found Kery's writing engrossing. That was one thing I liked about the original...good plot to go along with the good sex. ;) Lovely review, Lily!

  8. Hm... haven't had much luck with erotics lately, but I might have to try this one. I love a book in a series that can be read as a standalone. I often read out of order so that is perfect for me. :)

  12. That's great a random read was something you really enjoyed! I do like character driven stories overall, though I don't really read straight up erotica.

  13. I think that when they say "Can be read as a standalone" that you are always going to be missing out on a lot of backstory. I can't tell you how many times it has happened to me.
I like how Lin liked the brother first! I love it when a new love interest just steps into the picture. Greta review Lily!
