Summary from Goodreads
Liam "Hunter" Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil's Jack, he knows his duty. He'll defend his club from their oldest enemies-the Reapers-using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers' president has a daughter who's alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.
Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club's president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger-a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he's The One.
Or so she thinks.

Oh wow... so yeah humm I don't know where to start with this one. I am a big huge fan of Son's of Anarchy. For those that do not know what that is, it's a motorcycle club show I guess loosely based on Hell's Angels. And pardon my french has a lot of screwed up sh*t happen on the show. So when I saw Devil's Game, I was more then happy to pick it up. I don't know what I expected from it. Maybe something less then what I seen on this show?
If you expected less. Pack your bags, and don't even give this book a second look. Devil's Game not only delivered everything I wanted, but it came with extra baggage that I wasn't complete sure of.
Hunter is raised as a Devil's Jack, which is kind of a sub division? of Reapers Motorcycle club and apparently those two clubs don't get along. Now with one of the Devil's Jacks man in trouble. Hunter and his club will stop at nothing to straighten the problem out. Even if it means kidnapping Picnic's - the Reaper's president's daughter.
Em has lived her entire life in her father's shadow. Ever since her mother's death, her father has been very over protective of her and scared every guy possible away from her. So Em is a virgin.
Out come's Hunter, who plays up a nice guy. Get's Em to trust her, then kidnaps her and betrays her trust. And she still wants to hump his leg him. Yup, Em is still willing to loss her virginity to him to him despite the way Hunter a.k.a Liam has been treating her. Even if Hunter is creepy, and kind of make me want to cringe because some of the things he does are downright rapey and she probably should not enjoy that.
Many of you ask. How is this suppose to be a positive review.
Well....... If you are a fan of SOA, this is a positive review. It has almost everything the show has. A very egotistical, controlling, possessive sexually charged male and a kick-ass female. Seriously. Hunter is all like.. You are my woman, period. Em is all like, yeah my dad is a President of the motorcycle Club and I can say and do things to other's that no one else can pull off.
I don't really know how else to write this review. The book was messed up, it wasn't flowers and sunshine. It was deep, with very challenged characters. A story line that's well, different. It was hot, and sizzling, with a lot of steam and a lot of sass. I loved watching Em take on the
No seriously. If you watched the MC show, you don't need much words for this.

I haven't watched Sons of Anarchy yet, but it's waiting for me on the shelf on my right ! On the other side, I don't like women who want to dry hump a guy who's been treating them wrong. So... I guess I'll wait and see if I'm in the mood to read it some other time ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the show but I do know what it is about. I saw someone else review this and feel the same way about it that you did and she was a fan of the show as well.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about conflicted feelings. I had a lot of similar feelings that I do towards SoA. I love them for entertainment value, but it's hard to reconcile their actions.
ReplyDeleteNice review, Lily!
Guilty pleasure, indeed! I liked the first book to this series. I might just try again. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this and I haven't seen the shows to which it's similar to, so I'm really not sure if this is my cup of tea though I'm willing to give it a shot. Great review, Lily!
ReplyDeleteYeah looks hot ;)
ReplyDeleteI love SOA so I know I'd enjoy this series! Glad to see you enjoyed this one... it sounds a bit intense, 2 different clubs... I need to get into this series! Great review!

ReplyDeleteI've been watching SOA lately, still need to work my way through it but it's so good!!
ReplyDeleteLOL we all have some guilty pleasure reads girl. I'm really glad you're still enjoying this series. I have seen it around and well a motorcycle club, what's there not to love. Great review, Lily :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this story, Lily! Yes, it's a world I probably wouldn't be comfortable in but it's highly entertaining and boy was it ever hot! I had no idea I'd be so captivated by MC books, but now that I do, I really want to get into SOA! Wonderful review! :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic review, Lily! I cannot wait to get started on this series. I met Joanna last weekend and now I'm soo excited to immerse myself in the world of the Reapers.
ReplyDeleteThis definately sounds like a guilty pleasure read - one of those books you think you shouldn't enjoy but you just can't help but love it! Sounds like a sexy gritty romance!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one too! My review is up in a couple days. It was so much better than the previous one (it had been pretty tame I thought). Was glad to see how this one turned out :)
ReplyDeleteI love that cover and the name of the series. lol. Sounds like a great enjoyable guilty pleasure read. :) Thank you!
