Summary from Goodreads
He's about to make his own luck.
Ten years ago, Beau Dumont made the biggest mistake of his life by letting his high school sweetheart, Devyn Mauvais, slip through his fingers. Now the reformed bad boy will stop at nothing to get her back. Even if it means tricking her into taking a job on his family's riverboat, The Belle of the Bayou.
When Devyn's old flame offers her a stint at the boat's day care center, she sees it as a chance to prove she isn’t just the descendant of Louisiana's most infamous voodoo queen. Besides, it beats leading ghost tours around New Orleans. Yet when it comes to Beau, Devyn's all business. She won't give the sweet-talking playboy another chance to break her heart.
But there's no escaping temptation in such close quarters, and Beau won't be satisfied with a few hot nights with the girl he's always loved. As he strives to make Devyn remember the good times, will his passion and heart be enough to regain her trust?

Devyn Mauvais
is seriously down on her luck, besides having money issues and her car
repossessed, her former high school sweetheart has managed to trick her
into taking a job on his family's boat Belle of the Bayou. Now she must
spend a couple of days stuck working on the same boat as Beau and the
chemistry between them is not only unavoidable but hotter than ever.
I never read book one, but that's okay, it wasn't hard to pick up the pieces and follow along. The book does well as a stand-alone. The Dumont's brothers are suffering from a family curse that makes them very unlucky in love and usually has them running for the hills. Only one brother has managed to break the curse so far, thus erasing the strange mark that stains their skin over their heart, but it wasn't easy.
Despite making the biggest mistake of his life and letting Devyn slip through his fingers after High School, Beau is sure he is a reformed man and he wants nothing more but to prove it to Devyn, a task that doesn't come easy - not when she no longer trusts him.
A fun story. I enjoyed the setting, how most of the story took place on a riverboat, was kind of different. There was a lot of steamy chemistry between Beau and Devyn and you cannot help but really like them both. Beau for doing everything he can to get in good graces with Devyn and Devyn's snarky personality that made me giggle through the book.

I really did enjoy the chemistry between them and the drama that unfolded in the end. I couldn't help but root for the both of them to break the curse, even if it was obvious what was coming. Beau impressed me by how much effort he put into actually trying to accomplish that. The chemistry between them was really great. It did feel like there was a bit too much love scenes between the two that could have been done without, but it was easy to skim through and did not stop me from enjoying the writing and the wonderful plot.

I loved this one as well, I just wish it had more of that magic realism that the first one had. I'm excited to read the next one, that should be sticky, Alex & Ella
